Thank you for your interest in the Guide to Probiotic Products Available in the United Kingdom. This guide was launched by the Alliance for Education on Probiotics – AEProbio on March 1st, 2025, following flexible mobility award funding from the INFORMhub in collaboration with the University of Reading and the University of Leeds, UK. Unfortunately, due to a lack of secure ongoing funding to provide an updated version of the guide, the information provided here is now outdated, and this website is now on hold. Alternatively, for other resources related to science-led probiotic guides, you can access the latest updated versions of the Canadian and the USA Clinical Guide to Probiotic Products. Initially, the UK Probiotic Guide was launched as the UK's first fully independent, science-led probiotic guide. The UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) highlighted the UK Probiotic Guide in its Annual Science Update as a key resource for bridging the gap between scientific evidence and public understanding, citing it as an excellent model for transparent evidence reporting. This acknowledgement underscores the Guide’s value in supporting informed decision-making and improving clarity in an area often affected by marketing-driven claims. The information presented in all versions of the Probiotic Guide is intended to be reviewed and updated annually to reflect the latest research and the probiotic market offering. We remain actively involved in seeking partnerships within the UK and would welcome the opportunity to discuss potential collaboration or funding support. If you would like to get in touch, you can do so here.
